The dyes are well-soluble in water, possess good resistance to acid, have relatively high substantivity especially to paper and leather and give good penetration dyeings with leather. n Compounds of the formula ##STR2## wherein Q is --NH 2 , --NO 2 , acylamino or K 3 --Nâ•?N--, n wherein K 3 is a coupling component radical free of diazotizable amino groups, n Q is --NH 2 , --NO 2 , acylamino or --Nâ•?N--K 4 , n wherein K 4 is a coupling component radical free of diazotizable amino groups, n with the proviso that when Q is K 3 --Nâ•?N--, Q' is amino, nitro or acylamino, and n A 1 , b 1 , c 1 , each X and Y are as defined above, are useful as intermediates in the synthesis of the polyazo cmpounds.
